THQ Nordic continues surprising fans of older games by breathing new life into classics. This time it is the Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive Update, which takes the spotlight.
The classic real-time tactics game, which is similar to the Commandos series and the Robinhood The Legend of Sherwood game, was released in 2001, even before Windows XP was a thing. Naturally, due to the fact that it hadn’t been updated for nearly 2 decades, there were a lot of issues, when players tried to run the game on modern systems.
There was even a dedicated guide, to get the gane running on new PCs. But that won’t be needed anymore, because the Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive update adds compatibility for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. Not only that, the game now supports Apple’s macOS and Linux operating systems. The update also adds a new demo level (which was apparently lost prior to now), featuring Cooper, Doc and Kate, who have to free a town from Outlaws.
The game’s start screen has been changed, and now includes a language selection screen. You can choose to switch between French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and English anytime you want to. The Demo mission however, does not support Italian or Russian.
The Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive update is available on Steam and GOG. All you need to do to get the new version, is download the game from either platform and start playing. Or just open the Steam Client or GOG Galaxy application, if you have already installed the game, and it should auto update the game.
If you don’t own the game, you can buy it for 80% off the normal price on Steam and GOG. The discounted price is about $1.19, which is a real steal for a game that spans dozens of hours of challenging missions.
Recently Red Faction Guerilla Remarstered was released as a free update for existing owners. If only THQNordic were to polish up and release the original Gothic as Gothic remastered, it would be a dream come true for me.
