The Redmi 5 open sale has been made permanent on Amazon India and Mi.com online stores, The move comes just after the recently concluded Mi Fan Festival, which had the phone on open sale.
The Redmi 5 was launched in India on March 14th, 2018, but had been launched in December in China, So, the company has had several months to manufacture the device in large quantities, which explains the permanent open sale.
All 4 colour variants of the Redmi 5 are available through the open sale, so you can get the Black, Gold, Blue, or Rose Gold colour from either of the stores. The sale is valid for either model of the phone, i,e, the 32GB internal storage variant which has 3GB of RAM, and the 16GB storage variant with 2GB of RAM,

You also get the following offers when you buy the Redmi 5 (on both Amazon and Mi.com):
1. Rs. 2,200 Cashback and 100GB extra data with Jio.
2. Up to 90% off on Kindle eBooks (maximum discount of Rs.400)
Please refer to the terms and conditions of the offer on the store pages, before buying the device.
The 32GB variant Redmi 5 is available for at Rs. 8,999, while the 16GB Redmi 5 retails for Rs. 7,999. In my personal opinion, the Black colour is the best looking one, as it blends the border sides of the screen to give it a slightly bezel less appearance. And since you can get double the storage and an extra GB of memory, buying the 32GB variant makes more sense economically.
There is no word yet, as to when the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro open sale will be held. Considering that these are Xiaomi India’s best selling phones, thanks to the superior hardware (compared to the Redmi 5), it may take a while before the company starts selling them via open sales.
