Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Y2 in India. And as expected it is a rebranded version of the Redmi S2 selfie centric phone, which was launched earlier this year, in China. There are some Redmi Y2 launch offers, which makes this an attractive buy.
The Redmi Y2 features a 16-megapixel selfie camera which has a front-facing LED Flash light, an f/2.0, a 79.8° wide-angle lens and supports Bokeh mode, HDR, etc. The primary photography sensors comprise of a dual camera setup with 12-megapixel camera which has a 1.25μm pixel size, and an f/2.2, aperture and a 5-megapixel lens to act as a depth sensor.
The phone flaunts a 5.99-inch HD+ display in the 18:9 aspect ratio, with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels, 269 ppi and a 70.8% NTSC colour gamut. The Redmi Y2 runs on Xiaomi‘s MIUI 9.5 based on Android Oreo, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB/4GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB of internal storage, with support for up to 256GB of expandable storage with a dedicated microSD card slot, meaning you can use Dual SIM cards and a memory card at the same time.
The phone supports Face Unlock using the front camera, and also has a fingerprint scanner on the back panel. The device is backed by a 3,080mAh battery which charges over micro-USB. Connectivity options on the Redmi Y2 include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS/A-GPS. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Redmi Y2 price in India
The Redmi Y2 has been priced at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM variant, while the 4GB variant will retail for Rs. 12,999. The phone will be available in Elegant Gold, Rose Gold and Dark Grey colours, from 12th June at Noon, from Amazon India, Mi,com and Mi Home stores.
